DONATE STOCKS OR BONDS
Why make a gift of stock?
A charitable gift of stock provides an opportunity for tax savings while generously supporting Friends of the High Line. A gift of stock owned for more than one year entitles you to a charitable deduction for the full market value at the time the gift is made. If the stock has appreciated, you avoid a capital gains tax on the appreciation in value. If you would like to discuss a gift of stock to Friends of the High Line, please contact our Development Office at (212) 206-9922.
How do I make a gift of stock?
You have two choices:
| (1) |
For transfer instructions,
please instruct your broker or bank to call Friends of the
High Line at (212) 206-9922. |
| (2) |
If you hold the securities,
mail or hand deliver the certificate(s) without any endorsement
or assignment to:
Friends of the High Line
430 West 14th Street, Suite 304
New York, NY 10014
|
| • |
Please enclose a letter stating
the purpose of your gift (for example, "to benefit all
programs of Friends of the High Line"). |
| • |
In a separate envelope, mail
or deliver a signed stock power form for each gift. Except
for your signature, the stock power form should be blank. |
| • |
Print out a stock
power form, or ask for a stock power form from your bank or
broker. Please sign the stock power exactly as your name
appears on the stock certificate. |
