Exchange Value is a 16 feet high replica of a “copper skull”, made using one million melted copper pennies fabricated prior to 1983 (thus with 95 percent copper content). “Copper skull” is the colloquial name of a form created naturally when copper envelopes a stone that is subsequently dissolved. Copper extractivism and industry are linked to the progressive disappearance of artisanal traditions and to the relationship between neocolonialism and liberal economics.
